Leading Edge Technology

High technology products, designed specifically for purifying
water in cooling towers, warm water systems and evaporative
coolers. Ozone Water Purifiers can:
• Kill Legionella bacteria.
• Kill other bacteria, viruses and protozoa.
• Also kill microbes which live on surfaces of the equipment, such as pseudomonas fluorescens, which produce biofilm.
• Remove bioslime and scale from equipment surfaces. This improves heat transfer and increases efficiency and reduces power consumption.
• Eliminate odours from the system.
• Retard fungi, moulds and algae.
• Reduce corrosion, compared to traditional chemicals.
• Reduce running costs, as the only on-going cost is electricity - there are no consumables.
• Result in less frequent maintenance and quicker maintenance turnaround, due to less biofilm buildup.
• Result in less bleed-off water dumping, as recirculation rates can be increased.
• Reduce concentrations of mineral salts and organic load in the water, and reduce scale on surfaces.

How Ozone Works

Ozone really is the ideal disinfectant for cooling towers. It
is 50% stronger and 3,000 times faster at killing bacteria,
compared to chlorine. Yet it requires no consumables as
it is generated on-site, electrically. It leaves no long term
chemical residue. Ozone is made from life-giving oxygen.
The oxygen is passed through a plasma field where ozone is
created. It is then dissolved in water. It kills microbes by a
process of protein restructuring and removes other pollutants
by oxidation.
Ozone treatment of Cooling Towers is now supported by
many international organisations, including:
- Department of Energy, USA.
- EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute).
- CTI (Cooling Tower Institute).
There are now thousands of ozone cooling tower sites
throughout the world supported by legionella legislation in
most countries.
Our Cooling Tower Water Purifiers are Fully Integrated
Systems. We are one of very few companies in the world with
this approach - we take the "hassle" out of your plant. All
components are carefully designed, balanced, pre-connected
(electrics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics) and combined
into one single chamber.

Cooling Tower Purifier

The PE2 is designed for the typical cooling tower. It includes
a wide range of features:
• Plasma emitters (corona discharge).
• A nominal output of 1000 mg/hour, at a high concentration
for dissolving into water in the cooling tower basin.
• Extra long-life, high quality design. The components have
a design life up to 10 times that of alternative products.
• Unique fully potted enclosure, electrically insulated, with
EMI certification.
For larger cooling towers, multiple PE2's are required. The
PE2 is a modular design. These simply snap together like
"lego blocks". Multiple units can be connected togther, as
shown opposite.
The PE2 is simply connected to a venturi kit, in a recircula-
tion loop around the cooling tower basin (see typical con-
figuration below). A water pump (polymer or stainless steel)
creates the flow through the pipe and venturi. The
Oxygenator accessory can be connected to the inlet of any PE2 system. This triples the ozone output and ensures that the feedstock air is dry and clean. The oxygenator includes an inbuilt compressor. For example, the 2PE2 and AX8
create a 6g/hr system.

 




Typical Configuration

The PE2 creates oxidants from air which are then dissolved into a water recirculation pipe loop, using a
water pump and venturi kit.

 


Larger Systems WA8, WX8

Larger systems provide outputs up to 150 g/hour and concentrations up to 10% by weight:


• The WA8 is fully integrated, with all modules combined into one
case - ozone generator, air filters, compressor, air dyers, etc.
• The WA8 is designed to be connected to an oxygenerator or oxygen bottles.
• The electronics are very sophisticated with a touch pad control, PCB logic and LCD display. This allows automatic programming and feedback signals from Controllers.

Evaporative Cooler Purifier PW1

An Evaporative Cooler is effectively a "reverse cooling tower"
as it uses water to cool air. Although water temperatures are
a few degrees lower, Legionella can survive at temperatures
down to -80°C and it multiplies actively at 20°C. In addition,
Evaporative Coolers build up bioslime, odours and salts. The
PW1 controls these and reduces bleed or purge water by up
to 50%.
The PW1 is a compact device which is mounted inside the
cooler and its porous diffuser ball is simply dropped into the cooler basin. The PW1 comprises patented plasma emitters, a compressor, air filters, plasma source, electronic timer, signal light and more, packed into a micro, cost-effective unit.

 



Controllers

A large range of Controllers is available for measuring ozone concentrations in the gas phase or liquid phase. Manual "wet chemistry" sets are available for cost effective measurements whilst sophisticated electronics control the whole system.

 


Oztec Service

Ozone provides extensive documentation to assist customers
(and Distributors). Customers can fill out a "Fact Finder"
document to help size up the job. Ozone can then generate
a Sizing Report by reference to Oztec - a computer database
which records our extensive experience and research with
cooling tower water treatment. We can also generate
Component Lists and Layout Drawings as required. The
products themselves include extensive Instruction Manuals.
